Road Test Information

One last thing that every driver must do in order to obtain a license is pass a road test. We are state certified in administering these tests which generally last fifty to sixty minutes. There are certain requirements you must meet before eligible for a road test.

Requirements

If you are Under 18 you must:

  • Be at least 15 years of age
  • Complete Segment 1 of an approved driver education course
  • Have maintained your level 1 license for at least 180 days prior
  • Be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (or an adult
    appointed, in writing, by a parent or guardian)
  • Have no convictions, civil infractions, license suspensions or
    at fault crashes during the 90-day period immediately preceding
    your driving skills test and application for your Level 2 license.
  • If you are Over 18: you must:

  • Pass required vision and written tests at a Secretary of State office
  • Pay the required fees and obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP)
  • Maintain your TIP for at least 30 days prior
  • Have a valid ID

    Before you Schedule

    Before you schedule your test, please make the following preparations:

    If you are UNDER 18:

  • Bring your level level one license. It must be issued by the Secretary of State after completing Segment 1. You must have 6 months of driving experience with your level 1 license prior to taking the road test. If you have a replacement, the original date must be verified by the Secretary of State.
  • Bring your Segment 2 certificate
  • Bring a roadworthy vehicle* along with a valid registration and proof of insurance. The following is a list of the equiptment that must be present, undamaged, and operating properly:
    • Horn
    • Turn Signals
    • Lug Nuts
    • Windshield
    • Brake Lights (center lights included)
    • Washers
    • Mirrors
    • Speedometer
    • Tires
    • Muffler
    • Seatbelt
    • If the vehicle you plan on bringing is a rental from another company, please call us for instructions.
  • Bring a parent or legal guardian. This individual must accompany the tester and the applicant during the road test. No other individuals are allowed in the vehicle during the road test. Childcare is not provided. If a parent or guardian is unable to attend, please call us for specific instructions.
  • Be punctual. We recommend arriving at least 5 minutes prior to your specified test time.
  • If you do not speak English, it is your responsibility to provide an interpreter that is at least sixteen years old.
  • If you are OVER 18:

  • Bring your Temporary Instruction Permit.
  • Bring a valid photo ID.
  • Bring a roadworthy vehicle* along with a valid registration and proof of insurance. The following is a list of the equiptment that must be present, undamaged, and operating properly:
